Curriculum planning, scheming and updating is not a stationary process, rather a nonstop course of action done on a regular basis. In recent years, medical education in developed and developing countries has undergone profound changes to keep pace with advancing public health needs and challenges. To reorient medical education in the South-East Asian Region, the adoption of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Global Standards in Medical Education was emphasized.
In Bangladesh, a community-oriented and competency-based undergraduate medical curriculum was implemented in 2002 with an aim to produce need-based doctors for the community. The revised undergraduate medical curriculum has been implemented from 2021-2022 session. Performance of these; students as graduates will articulate about the achievement of this “Curriculum for Under-graduate Medical Education in Bangladesh–Updated 2020” with the reflection of integrated, need-based, core & optional, problem based, community oriented, community based & competency based though the curriculum is mainly discipline based.
